No. helixXY works entirely with data you already have. If you've taken a test with 23andMe, Genera, Ancestry, MyHeritage, or meuDNA, you can download your raw data file for free from their platform and upload it directly to helixXY — no new tests or costs required.

We accept the standard raw data formats provided by all major labs: .txt and .zip files from 23andMe, Genera, Ancestry, MyHeritage, and meuDNA. If you're unsure which file to download, check the 'Compatible labs' article in our help center.

helixXY is compatible with 23andMe, Genera, Ancestry, MyHeritage, and meuDNA. These labs cover the vast majority of DNA tests taken worldwide. If your lab is not listed, contact our support team and we'll look into adding compatibility.

Report generation typically takes a few minutes after your file is successfully uploaded. You'll be notified by email as soon as your reports are ready to view.

Reports are updated automatically whenever new peer-reviewed studies relevant to your genetic variants are published. There's no need to re-upload your data — the updates happen in the background and your reports are refreshed instantly.

Labs sequence your DNA and provide a basic set of results focused mainly on ancestry. helixXY goes further by cross-referencing your raw genetic data against thousands of published studies, generating hundreds of additional reports on health, fitness, nutrition, predispositions, and more.

Currently each account is linked to one raw data file at a time. If you have test results from multiple labs, upload the file that contains the most variants for the most comprehensive analysis.

Yes. Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard protocols. We never sell, share, or use your genetic data for third-party research without your explicit consent.

Absolutely. You can request full deletion of your data at any time from your account settings. Once deleted, your information is permanently and irreversibly removed from our servers.
